2. Overview

Multimedia Downloader is available as a website and as a desktop app for macOS and Windows. We only process the data needed to run it. There are no user accounts and no analytics tools. Ads are only loaded with your consent (section 7).

3. Hosting and server log files

The website runs on a server operated by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany, with whom we have a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). On every visit, the server processes technically necessary data: IP address, date and time, requested address, amount of data transferred, browser type and operating system. We store this data in log files to keep the service running, find errors and defend against abuse (e.g. attacks or mass requests). Log files are deleted after 7 days at the latest. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; our legitimate interest is secure and stable operation.

4. Using Multimedia Downloader on the website

• Links: our server retrieves links you paste from the respective platform (e.g. YouTube, SoundCloud, Instagram, TikTok). The platform receives our server’s IP address, not yours.
• Files: downloaded, uploaded, converted and edited files are stored on our server only temporarily and are deleted automatically after 6 hours at the latest. They can only be retrieved with a random identifier of your browser. We don’t look at or analyse the content.
• Song data and covers: to find title, artist, album and cover, our server sends the artist and song name to Apple’s iTunes Search (Apple Inc., USA) and to Deezer (Deezer S.A., France). Thumbnails and covers are loaded by our server and passed on to your browser – your IP address is not sent to these services.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (providing the function you requested).

5. Local storage in your browser

Multimedia Downloader stores a random identifier in your browser’s local storage so you can find your own downloads, plus your settings (e.g. last chosen format) and your choice regarding ads. This data only leaves your browser as the identifier in requests to our server. Storing it is strictly necessary for the service you requested (§ 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG) and doesn’t require consent. You can delete it at any time in your browser settings.

6. Contact by email

If you email us, we process your email address and message to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR). The data is deleted once the request is settled and no statutory retention obligations apply.

7. Advertising (only with consent)

We show ads from the Adsterra network (Ad Market Limited, Christaki Kranou 49, 4041 Limassol, Cyprus). Ads are only loaded after you choose “Accept” in the notice. Adsterra may then use cookies or similar technologies and process data such as your IP address, device information and interactions with the ads to deliver and bill ads and prevent fraud. Legal basis is your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, § 25(1) TDDDG). You can withdraw it at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of the page. 8. “Ad-free” purchase (payment, key, invoice)

If you buy “Ad-free + lifetime support & updates”, the payment is processed by Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, D02 H210, Ireland). You enter your payment details (e.g. card or account data) directly with Stripe; we don’t receive them. Stripe sends us your email address, your name, the amount and the payment status. If you choose PayPal, Klarna or similar there, their privacy policies apply as well.

We store your email address, name, amount, date, key and invoice number to send you your key and invoice, verify the key, resend it on request and provide support. Emails are sent via IONOS’s mail server. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (contract) and Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR (tax retention obligations).

9. Desktop app for macOS and Windows

The app runs entirely on your computer. Your files and links stay there and are not sent to us. The app only connects to:

• the platforms you download from,
• Apple’s iTunes Search and Deezer for song data and covers (artist and song name),
• the Python Package Index (pypi.org, Python Software Foundation, USA) to keep the download component up to date automatically,
• The Document Foundation (documentfoundation.org, Germany), only if you download the add-on for documents,
• our server (multimediadowner.kekelivi.com) to load the ad settings and – only if you enter or request a key – to verify it or trigger the email,
• Adsterra, only if you consent to ads (section 7).

These services receive your IP address. If a platform requires a login, the app can use the login from a browser installed on your computer. These login details are only sent locally to the respective platform and never to us.

10. Retention

Files on our server: 6 hours at most. Server log files: 7 days at most. Purchase data and invoices: until the end of the statutory retention period (up to 10 years). Emails: until the request is settled, unless statutory retention obligations apply.

11. Your rights

You have the right to access (Art. 15 GDPR), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You can withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3)). Just write to info@kekelivi.com.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, e.g. the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information Baden-Württemberg, Lautenschlagerstraße 20, 70173 Stuttgart, Germany.

12. Security

The connection to the website is encrypted with TLS (HTTPS). We use technical and organisational measures to protect data against loss and unauthorised access.

13. Changes

We update this privacy policy when Multimedia Downloader or the law changes. The version published here applies.
